The Position
Consultant Stroke Physician required for our NHS client in the North East of England, delivering high quality care across hyper-acute, acute and rehabilitation domains of Stroke Medicine. This is on a permanent or 12-month fixed term basis.
Health Service
The successful applicant will work within the stroke medical team to support the continued development of the Trust’s highly regarded Stroke Service and provide expertise and support to the Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit and dedicated Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. They will support the team of junior doctors and dedicated specialist nurses and work within the wider MDT to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The role will involve participation in their reperfusion on-call service including thrombolysis and selecting patients for mechanical thrombectomy at their local neurosciences centre.
The client is keen to explore a candidate’s interests and try to tailor a post to these, appreciating that a consultant working in a team within their area of interest is a valuable asset in driving forward service development.

Essential Criteria
- Full registration with the GMC and inclusion on the Specialist Register (or pending within 6 months of interview)
- MBBS degree or equivalent, MRCP or equivalent, Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in an appropriate specialty
- Must have previous active involvement in Stroke Medicine, independent ward rounds of acute inpatients presenting with stroke, comprehensive patient management, ability to make decisions at Consultant level.
