The Position
Full Time (10 PA's) Speciality Doctor post in Acute and General Medicine with area of specialist interest
This is a permanent position although fixed term for 12 months will also be considered.
Applications are invited for these new posts in acute general medicine (including Medical High Dependency Unit). During the first year of appointment you will work across acute general medicine and various speciality medical wards, as well as having involvement in specialist outpatient clinics and procedural clinics. You will have the opportunity to identify an area of specialty interest in one of the following areas - Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Renal, Diabetes, General Medicine. As individuals are appointed to these roles, these areas of specialty interest will be allocated accordingly. You will work across acute medicine and general medical ward at middle grade level.
You will have the opportunity to manage a range of acute medical problems and to develop your clinical leadership within these areas. You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills aligned with acute medicine and to practice them regularly. You will be expected to manage patients as a senior decision maker under the guidance of a consultant physician. There is also the opportunity to participate in a range of speciality out-patient clinics. Health Service
The position is at the main Acute Hospital for the Highland area. It serves, together with our rural general hospitals, the largest NHS area in the UK comprising the counties of Caithness, Sutherland, Ross and Cromarty,Inverness, Nairn, Lochaber, Badenoch and Speysideandpart of Argyll and Moray. It also provides certain services to the Western Isles Health Board (Outer Hebrides) –the total population covered being about 246,000. The Highlands are an area of outstanding natural beauty, recreational outdoor activities. The city of Inverness is busy and well connected by air and rail to all UK destinations. The hospital was commissioned in 1985, and contains a total of 454 beds. It is equipped to a very high standard.

Essential Criteria
Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice and experience of hospital medicine.
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification Completed at least four year’s full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent) at least two of which will be in a relevant specialty training programme, or have equivalent experience
MRCP is desirable
