Skilled Medical can assist certain categories of International Medical Graduates to gain employment in locum and permanent roles in Ireland. Eligible doctors must be prepared to commit to roles for a minimum 6 month period for permanent and 3 months for locum or fixed term roles. Skilled Medical provides support in finding suitable roles and assists in the registration, visa entry and relocation process.
To take up a permanent or locum role in Ireland, you must be registered as a doctor and have the right to work in Ireland.

REGISTRATION WITH THE MEDICAL COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
The Medical Council is the governing body regulating doctors in the Republic of Ireland. To be eligible for work in Ireland, all doctors must be registered with The Medical Council and have the right to work. For information on coming to work in Ireland, please click here.
FIRST TIME APPLICANTS
Prior to submitting a Registration application, you must check your eligibility for guidance on which route to submit your application under.

APPLYING FOR REGISTRATION
Once you have worked with your Skilled Medical Recruitment Consultant to secure a job in Ireland, you will need to apply for registration promptly. The Medical Council may request a number of documents to assess your Registration eligibility including the following:
- Application form related to the division of registration you are applying for
- Certificate of Current Professional Status demonstrating you are in good standing with your previous regulatory authority
- Application fee
Please note: All documents must be notarised by a Notary Public or attested by a Justice of the Peace/Commissioner for Oaths/Member of An Garda Síochána (documents signed by a Police Officer from another State are not accepted).
To submit an application online, you will also need to supply your passport and debit/credit card number.
After the Medical Council has reviewed your application, they will make a final decision on whether to grant registration to a doctor.
EVIDENCE OF PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY
Before submitting an application for Registration, you must provide evidence of your professional indemnity practice arrangements by completing the Medical Council’s Professional Indemnity Declaration Form (PIDF).
