The Position
2 substantive Consultant Anaesthetists to join a large and friendly team. This post is for Consultants with an interest in; Major General Anaesthesia
10.25 PA's per week comprising of; 7.25 PA of DCC, 0.75PA on-call and 2PA of SPA. You will be expected to work flexibly (in line with the rest of the Dept) and to cover on-call duties at weekends and out of hours.
Health Service
The department provides anaesthetic services to all sites in the Trust, as well as supporting Community Dental Services in the district. We have an increasing footprint for anaesthesia provision in remote sites including Radiology, Endoscopy & Cardiology.
We have recently joined the RCOA MTI programme and currently have 1 MTI Doctor working with us, with a second joining shortly. We are a very progressive department and we currently have 1 WTE Lead Anaesthesia Associate (AA) plus 4 Trainee AA’s due to qualify in 2023, with a further 4 planned to start training in 2022. The department also hosts 3.5 WTE Acute Pain Nurses, 1 WTE Peri-Operative Medicine Nurse, 20 WTE Pre Operative Assessment Nurses and 4 Administrative and Clerical staff.
As a department we have a reputation for being cohesive, innovative and providing excellent education and support to our trainees, Trust Grades and Consultants. We were delighted to be one of the first Departments in the UK to achieve ACSA accreditation from the RCOA (currently undergoing reaccreditation). We have also had a successful GIRFT visit and were particularly commended for our Surgery School and our Surgical High Care Unit.

Essential Criteria
FRCA or equivalent
GMC Registration
Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia via CCT or CESR (or within 6 months of proposed date of award of CCT)
Higher qualification in Anaesthesia e.g. EDRA
Completion of relevant Subspecialty Fellowship
