The Position
This exciting post has become available as a result of vacancy in the department.The post is funded as a 0.52 WTE (5 PA) consultant post.
The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic and friendly multidisciplinary team comprising Consultants, a Middle Grade doctor and Specialist Nurses.
As well as providing general neurological services, the department runs clinics for the following sub-specialties: Epilepsy, Migraine (both Botox and Nerve Block injection clinics), Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinsons Disease.
The appointee would be expected and encouraged to develop a sub special interest which will fit well within the needs of the Department, both current and future. He/she will be expected to become involved in all aspects of the Department including teaching, audit and research and providing elective and emergency care as required.
Job responsibilities
To provide new and follow up out-patient clinics.
To share in the inpatient care of Neurology patients and those referred to Neurology for specialist review
To maintain and develop subspecialty interests complementary to the department.
To provide clinical services in line with the Trusts clinical governance arrangements, which are designed to ensure agreed qualities and standards are achieved, and in conjunction with colleagues, to contribute to clinical governance activities.
To develop clinical protocols, guidelines and care pathways for patient management in conjunction with colleagues in primary care. To be willing to undertake additional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.

Essential Criteria
Full GMC Registration
Entry on GMC Specialist Register
MRCP or Equivalent
Entitled to work in the UK
All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
Computer literate
The Package
£82,096 to £110,683 a year Pro Rata
