There is 1 generic SPA within the job plan. These are to support personal development, audit, teaching and non clinical administration
The post is to assist the Breast Unit team in delivery of a high-quality screening and symptomatic radiology service, and to share responsibility for provision of a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service. The locum must therefore have previously worked in a unit where they read screening images, and should have NBSS (National Breast Screening System) derived evidence of at least 5,000 reads to qualify for this post from the FRQA report of that system. The locum will be given office space either shared or hot-desking, and there will be secretarial support. Access to a networked PC will be provided with this post and there will be office access to a PACS reporting workstation. Development of competence with voice recognition software will be required. The applicant must be competent and capable to act as Responsible Assessor as described within the current NHSBSP guidelines, and to lead a symptomatic breast clinic imaging service. The post holder will be required to comply with all Trust Policies notably in relation to job planning, and leave taking in line with Departmental and Trust objectives. The programs shown are for illustrative purposes and could be subject to modification, in agreement with the post holder and the Service Line Director. In practice, through COVID and before that, weeks are flexible for all consultants so that overall DCC delivery is assured over 13 weeks, but exactly what is done when in any given week will vary, as directed by requirements of the service. This same flexibility means the unit would be open to accommodating some preferences of working pattern, subject to discussion. The successful candidate will be expected to share in the support of the Breast MDT meetings with consultant colleagues.
