The Position
This position is a permanent opportunity for a Consultant in Emergency Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity for the beginning the expansion of emergency provision at two main sites within this NHS trust.
The successful candidate will play a major role in the modernisation of the emergency care pathway following the introduction of the national Clinical Quality Indicators and through an extensive programme of development in the Trusts and health economy emergency flow improvement programme.
You will be expected to be active in the teaching and supervision of both undergraduates and postgraduate doctors.
Health Service
This NHS Trust sees in the excess of 44,000 attendees per year in one site and 36,000 in the second site. These sites include a fully accredited Trauma Unit within the Northern Trauma Network. Due to its unique geographical location, close to mountains they see a vast variety of cases.
The Emergency Department is actively involved in education, both Undergraduate and Postgraduate. SSC and final year medical students from Newcastle University rotate through the Department.

Essential Criteria
- Full GMC Registration; or have applied and pending licence to practice
- MCEM or equivalent
- BLS or ALS
- High level of clinical experience and competence in Emergency Medicine.
- Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers and other staff
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
The Package
Salary range - £79,680 - £107,668. Exact offer will be a result of successful interview.
This position involves an on-call rota, which will involve an additional supplement.
